Training: The receptionist apprenticeship
The official title of the apprenticeship is "Hotel Management Assistant (Receptionist)". It was developed specifically for the needs of medium-sized and larger hotels, which require specialists rather than all-rounders at reception. For micro and small businesses, there is still the hotel and catering assistant (HGA) apprenticeship, which also covers kitchen and service in addition to training at reception.
In the new receptionist apprenticeship, particular attention was paid to the changed requirements brought about by the online age. From presentation and online sales via hotel websites to dealing with rating platforms and online route planners. The three-year course also includes dealing with complaints and claims, developing travel packages and working with tourism associations.
